The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) funded by Canada and Japan governments has begun vocational skills training for 450 vulnerable youths in Boko Haram-affected local government areas of Yobe State.

The beneficiaries, spread across five locations: Damaturu, Gashua, Nguru, Potiskum and Geidam, are expected to learn tailoring, bricklaying, vehicle repair, among other trades.

Flagging off the training in Damaturu on Friday, the Head of UNDP, Maiduguri Office, Mizuhu Yokoi, said the trainees would undergo extensive 11-week training in their chosen trades.

The Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Science and Technical Board, Musa Abdulsalam, assured that accommodation and feeding had been provided for the beneficiaries.
