The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has offered N200 million in financial support to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Bayelsa State.
Joyce Oboro, Leader of the UNDP team, handed over a cheque to Governor Douye Diri at the Government House in Yenagoa Monday.
Oboro said the initiative, co-sponsored by the European Union, aims to alleviate the current socio-economic challenges by empowering small and medium-sized businesses in various sectors.
The programme, according to UNDP, included financial aid and capacity building, with a focus on a cluster-based approach to achieve its goals.

Oboro expressed confidence that the project would boost economic growth and enhance the quality of life for Bayelsans.
She encouraged other organisations and individuals to participate in this effort.
Governor Douye Diri welcomed the partnership with UNDP to develop MSMEs in the state, highlighting the government’s ongoing support for small businesses.
He mentioned the training and empowerment programmes already in place, such as providing grants and starter packs to small business owners across the state.
He assured the UNDP delegation of the state’s commitment to the partnership and its dedication to improving the lives of Bayelsans.
