The United Nations Women Nigeria and the United Kingdom Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, in partnership with the Kaduna State Government, have launched a UN Women Coalition on COVID-19 response.
The Deputy Country Representative, UN Women Nigeria, Mr. Lansana Wonneh, who disclosed that Kaduna State is the leading state in Nigeria in terms of women participation in governance, said “There is no way a society could operate to its fullest if women are not carried along.”
He explained that the state is doing well in that direction and that was why they were in the state to do more.
The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, who officially launched the Women’s Coalition on COVID-19 response and presented the framework that will guide the activities of the group, said the birth of the organisation would advance the ongoing campaign to give women the place they deserve in leadership and decision-making.
