Ebonyi State Governor, Chief David Umahi has directed the immediate sealing of a private hospital where COVID-19 death occurred in the state.
Umahi also directed that the hospital management be prosecuted in accordance with Ebonyi State Coronavirus and Other Dangerous Infectious Diseases and Related Matters Law, 2020.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Francis Nweze made the disclosure in Abakiliki.
According to him, he said that the prosecution would serve as a deterrent to other hospitals that may attempt managing COVID-19 patient without following the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) protocols.
The state governor also debunked rumours making rounds in some quarters that the deceased COVID-19 patient was a judiciary staff.
He explained that there are plans by the state government to build two additional testing centers at Onicha and Ishielu Local Government Areas of the state.
