Umahi declares dusk to dawn curfew in Effium community

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi on Wednesday ordered a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Effium community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area to avert further killings and destruction of properties in the area.

The state government also approved that additional 600 soldiers be drafted to the area to restore peace in Effium community.

The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr. Uchenna Orji, made this known to journalists on Wednesday.

Orji said that the decision was reached at the end of this week’s State Executive Council meeting.

This came barely 48 hours after the governor visited the area to appeal to the two warring clans (Ezza and Effium).

Daily Trust gathered that despite the peace initiative and the signing of peace pact by stakeholders of both clans, killings and destruction of properties still persist in the area.
