The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engineer David Umahi yesterday appointed a former deputy governor of the state, Professor Chigozie Ogbu as the acting Vice Chancellor of Ebonyi State University, (EBSU).
Ogbu is expected to assume office on Monday.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to Ebonyi State Government, Professor Bernard Odoh and was made available to Daily Trust.
Also, in the statement, Chief Franklin Ogbuewu is to serve as the Pro-Chancellor of the university.
The outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Francis Idike assumed office in 2008.
Idike, upon his tenure expiration in November 2016 was appointed acting vice chancellor.
Ogbu who is professor in pediatrics and had served 8 years as deputy governor of the state in two different administrations in the second tenure of Senator Sam Egwu and Chief Martin Elechi first tenure.
