Ukrainian varsity Lviv University for Business and Law is to confer doctorate degrees on selected eminent Nigerians that have made outstanding contributions in academics, politics, business administration, cultural exchange, traditional institution, religion and humanitarian services in the advancement of humanity.
The university uses the honour to encourage excellence which involves acknowledging the contributions of respected and distinguished men and women worldwide, a statement signed by Dr Cliff Ogbede, the country representative in Nigeria, said.
It also said as part of their international collaborative programmes towards expanding bilateral cooperation in education, Lviv University of Business and Law, Ukrainian V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, and Ivano-Frankivsk University of Oil and Gas and the Academy of Economic Sciences will honour the individuals at its forthcoming maiden lecture with the theme ‘Prospects in strengthening Ukraine-Nigeria Diplomatic/Economic relations’ in Abuja.
“It is instructive to know that Ukraine, having robust diplomatic relations with Nigeria, is offering affordable university admission to Nigerian students with an estimated number hovering above 12,000 currently,” he said.
He said Lviv University for Business and Law has the highest Ivy level of accreditation and is one of the leading educational institutions in Eastern Europe training highly qualified personnel for the economic sector, law, international relations, and journalism.
He said the collaboration has been a major boost in the skills and entrepreneurship development circle for Nigerian youths as it encourages more undergraduate and post graduate students to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the Ukrainian Universities.
Dr Ogbede noted that partnering with the Ukrainian Universities will help to further advance the standards of our education hence; the cooperation will open up channels for prominent scholars from Germany, Poland and other European countries who regularly give lectures at these Universities to expand their research and support services to the Nigerian partner institutions.
