Ukraine has listed demands as president Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin of Russia return for peace talks Monday.
Ukraine’s delegation Monday arrived for talks with the Russian negotiators as the Russian invasion entered its fifth day.
Ukraine’s demands include an immediate Russian ceasefire and troops withdrawal and “immediate” European Union membership for Ukraine.
Zelenskyy, in a statement, urged Russian soldiers to lay down their weapons.
He said, “The Ukrainian delegation arrived at the Ukrainian-Belarusian border to take part in talks with representatives of the Russian Federation.
“The key issue of the talks is an immediate ceasefire and the withdrawal of troops from Ukraine.”
On Sunday, Putin ordered the country’s nuclear deterrent forces to be on high alert.
