The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied the rumoured resignation of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, as the chairman of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council.
The party said the rumoured resignation was a product of speculation by people averse to the idea and prospects of what the nation would enjoy under the presidency of Atiku and Okowa in 2023.

In a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Borono Bassey, Gov Emmanuel said he never contemplated resigning his position as chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council, noting that he believed in the ability of Atiku Abubakar to address the many challenges facing the country.
The statement reads in part: “As a firm believer in the capacity and aptitude of Atiku Abubakar to tackle and address the myriad of challenges bedevilling our nation at this time, Governor Udom Emmanuel says he remains a frontline, dogged, undeterred, focused and optimistic compatriot in the collective match by Nigerians to rescue Nigeria and redirect it on a path of accelerated and collective progress and development.”
Meanwhile, the PDP governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom, Pastor Umo Eno, has promised among other things to sustain peace, security and development of the state if elected in 2023.
Speaking during the official flag off of campaigns for his governorship bid, Eno said he would build and leverage on the legacies of the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
He stated that his contract with the people was summed up in his ARISE agenda focused on agriculture, investment, security and education, and pledged to continue on the path of peace and stem rural-urban migration.
