An Uber driver, Aiyu Eromosele Thomas, has been reported missing, with his family crying out and appealing to the security agencies to hasten investigation to ascertain his whereabouts.

The 34-year-old Thomas, who resides at number 70 Imole Avenue, Ajasa Command, Lagos, was said to have gone missing since February 1, 2023.

Our correspondent learnt that his vehicle, a grey Toyota Corolla 2005/6 model with registration number, GGE583GX, was found abandoned the following day in the Ojota area of Lagos by a police patrol team.

An elder brother of the driver, Aiyu Etiose Godwin, who spoke with City & Crime, said the matter was first reported at the Meiran Police Station before it was taken to the headquarters of the state command.

He said, “He (the missing person) left his house for his commercial driving activities at about 7:30am on the 1st of February, 2023. He drives a Toyota Corolla which he registered with Bolt Rider Company for the taxi activity.

“When he did not return and his phone numbers did not go through, my mother who was staying in his house at the time raised the alarm.

“The family’s effort to know his whereabouts proved abortive hence we reported to the Meiran Division. The Bolt Rider Company was contacted and the company provided the police with some information that would aid investigation.”

Confirming the vehicle was later found, he added, “On observation, the driver’s door’s sliding glass was broken and fluid suspected to be blood was seen on the right side of the driver’s seat.

“Around 14th of February, 2023, the Meiran police decided to transfer the case to a special unit under the CP at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, for further and advanced investigation.

“The police at the state command promised the family that a thorough investigation would be carried out. But as weeks roll by and no information is forthcoming, my mother and the entire family are in panic.”

He, therefore, pleaded with the police “to please act on this investigation.”

When contacted, spokesman of the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said he was not aware of the case.
