The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr Hamid Bobboyi, has reaffirmed the commitment of the commission to fostering innovation in the basic education sector through research.
He also pledged to ensure that research projects sponsored by the commission aligned with the need for a smart technology-driven education system in Nigeria.
The UBEC boss stated this while inaugurating the Research Management Committee of the commission at the UBEC Digital Resource Centre, Abuja.
Speaking, the National Coordinator of the UBEC Digital Resource Centre, Prof. Bashir Galadanci, urged the newly inaugurated committee members to harness their collaborative efforts to ensure the successful integration of smart education into the Nigerian education system.

Responding, the chairman of the committee, Prof. John Gbenga Adewale, gave the assurance that all the members would work hard, unfailingly and diligently towards assisting the commission in achieving its research objectives on smart education.
Members of the 20-man committee include Dr Peter Adeseeni Matemilola, Dr Nseabasi Essien, Dr Emmanuel Chukwunweike Nwangwu, Dr Adetunmbi Laolu Akinyemi, Prof. Comfort Ekpo, Dr Fatimah Jibril Abduldayan, Dr Daniel Aideyan Osarenmwata, Dr Ibeabuchi Glory, Prof. Ibrahim Lawal Yazid and Dr Faruk Ambursa, among others.
Meanwhile, UBEC has pursued a digital transformation agenda which has led to the establishment of model smart schools in 36 states of the country and the FCT, Abuja.
