The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc Foundation says it has taken its Read Africa initiative to East Africa where it donated 500 books to Our Lady of Mercy Girls Secondary School in Nairobi, Kenya.
The initiative, launched in 2011, is to encourage students to improve their vocabulary and communication skills through reading.
UBA said in a statement that it has been changing the lives of African students for the past six years through the initiative. It said the foundation is helping rekindle the dwindling reading culture amongst African youth as they pursue their education.
The CEO of the UBA Foundation, Bola Atta, told the students that the foundation was committed to uplifting the lives of the societies within which it operated by creating dynamic educational platforms for future generations.
