The Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Gwagwalada, branch, has organised a scientific conference with the theme: “Human Capacity Development in the Health Sector in a Dwindling Economy”, for its members.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UATH, Prof Bissalla Ekele, appreciated the contributions of all consultants in the hospital in the area of providing quality health care services.
He equally recognised the efforts of union leaders towards ensuring the hospital moved forward.
On his part, the Chairman of the occasion, who is the immediate past President of the West African College of Surgeons (WACS), Prof King-David Tern Yawe, expressed optimism that the discussions would in no small measure help to cement relationships among various professional health unions in the hospital.
He commended the effort of the current CMD for introducing new innovations in the hospital, just as he enjoined other medical practitioners to emulate and tap from the experience of the CMD.
Earlier, the Chairman of MDCAN at UATH who doubles as senior lecturer and Consultant General Surgeon, Dr Samuel Ali Sani, lauded medical workers in the hospital for effective management of COVID-19 cases.
