TY Danjuma donates multi-million naira morgue to FMC Jalingo 

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba state has commissioned a multi-million naira mortuary donated to the Federal Medical Center Jalingo, Taraba State by former Minister of Defence,  Gen Theophilus Danjuma.

The mortuary, first of its kind in the North-East region, was built and equipped by the TY Danjuma Foundation to address the gap in the hospital.

The mortuary which is well equipped, with a service and administrative area  also  includes the offices, electrical room, conveniences and storage.

Other facilities include the technical area that  consists of the body reception and preparation unit, autopsy, and body holding unit.

The facility also have  a 3-phase 20KVA standby generator and 15KVA solar-powered inverter system in addition to the Mains power, to ensure constant electricity. A borehole and filtration system provides clean water.

While commissioning the project, Gen Danjuma said he embarked on it after his personal lawyer, Dan Agbu, lost his mother some years ago.

He said he was alarmed by the condition of the morgue at the Federal Medical Center, Jalingo, narrating how shocking it was to see multiple bodies carelessly kept in an unrefrigerated shipping container, in already decomposing state.

“When l saw  the ugly condition, my lawyer contacted me and appealed that I should intervene, I then directed my team to visit the hospital and give me a budget of a mortuary including  the best facilities to be provided,” he said

Danjuma however   charged the management of the hospital to ensure they sustain the maintenance of the facility and the equipment.

Dr. Bodiya Buma,  the state commissioner of Health, in his address, commended the foresight and generosity of Danjuma, for providing the state-of-art facilities which will preserve dignity in death and enhance medical research and training in the center
He said health sector in the state has continued to benefit from strategic intervention from  Danjuma Foundation, adding that such intervention has uplifted the welfare of people of the state

“This facility will serve as a vital support to the FMC, Jalingo, ensuring professional mortuary services, contributing to the overall improvement of healthcare delivery in our state.” Dr Buma said

Dr.Aisha Adamu, Medical Director of the hospital, commended the retired General, saying the project was executed at the right time.

She assured that the management would maintain the facility for the benefit of future generations.
