Two suspected kidnappers arrested in Lagos

Two members of a gang of suspected kidnappers were almost lynched at Lekki by an angry mob.

The suspects were arrested after the vehicle they were allegedly escaping in along with two victims had crashed along the Lekki-Epe expressway on Thursday.

It was gathered that the victims, a lady identified as Mildred  Mbajorgu  and her daughter were allegedly bounded into a vehicle while they were waiting for a cab in front of preaceland estate, Abijo, Lekki area of the state.

Narrating his wife ordeal at the hospital were they are currently being treated, chief Eddie Mbajorgu said it was his daughter who raised alarm that attracted other road users.

According to him, a good Samaritan had been following  the fleeing vehicle in hot pursuit. 

He said:,"My brothers please join me to thank the Lord for a miraculous escape of my wife Mrs Mildred Mbajiorgu from the hands of the three kidnappers. They were bundled infront of Peaceland Estate Abijo in the company of my daughter.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti could not be reached for confirmation as telephone lines were engaged while text message to his phone was not replied.

"As they drove off with her and my daughter raised alarm. On the way my wife attempted to jump out from the car which attracted an oncoming vehicle.

"The vehicle began chasing the kidnappers and at a point was able to hit their vehicle. This made them to accelerate the more as a result of which the front tyre of their vehicle bursted. It later collided with other cars.

"Two out of the kidnappers were caught at Oribanwa area of lbeju Lekki .They were almost  lynched but for the timely arrival of the Police. My wife is presently hospitalised with bruises on the eye, arm and shoulder."
