Two shot dead in Benue

Gunmen in the early hours of Saturday killed two people in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen, who killed their victims in their homes at Yelewta community of Guma LGA, also abducted an elderly man.

Witnesses said the armed men invaded the community, a rural commercial town at 6am and in the process they killed the two people and went away with one person.

A government official said the abducted man whose name he gave as, Iorver Igbo, was his father-in-law and that no link had been established with the kidnappers.

Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Benue, DSP Catherine Anene, said she was yet to receive any such report.
