Operatives of the anti-kidnapping unit of the Bayelsa State Police Command have arrested two syndicates trying to ferry 125 rounds of live cartridges and one bag of Indian hemp at Ovom waterside in Yenagoa, the state capital to Southern Ijaw Local Government .
The police spokesman for Bayelsa State, SP Asinim Butswat told journalists yesterday in Yenagoa that the arrested suspects, one Solomon Ibe, 43, and one Chris Amuka, 23, were arrested while attempting to move the items to Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.

He said the suspects are helping the police operatives with useful information in the ongoing investigation to unravel the aim of moving the items to the area.
Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state has recorded several pirate attacks, kidnappings and militants attacks in the recent past.
“The suspects were arrested while trying to ferry one bag of weed suspected to be Indian hemp and one hundred and twenty five rounds of live cartridges, to Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and the suspects are assisting the police in its investigation,” he said.
