Two people have been killed in a crash along Makurdi – Gboko highway in Benue State.
At least six others were injured in the lone accident involving a Toyota Picnic vehicle around Wannune area of the road.
Witnesses said the vehicle veered off the road and hit a tree, a development that led to the death of the victims.

Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, Aliyu Baba, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on phone in Makurdi.
Baba said two persons died as a result of the accident, which occurred at about 3:00 pm on Saturday while six people sustained injuries.
Baba added that the accident happened because the tyre of the vehicle burst while the vehicle was on top speed, making the driver to lose control.
