Two dead, 15 injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway accident

Two persons on Saturday died while 15 others sustained injuries when a speeding DAF truck overturned at a diversion point along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Our correspondent gathered that the vehicle marked RBH 214 XA, carrying bags of onions and passengers, was travelling towards Lagos when the accident occurred around Eldorado axis on the expressway.

The accident which occurred around 6.30am led to gridlock, as the truck emptied the onions and passengers on the road.

The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident in Abeokuta.

He commiserated with the families of the deceased and warned drivers to reduce their speed while approaching diversion and construction zones in view of its attendant consequences.
