Masa and Aya Shannout, both 18, were over-the-moon with their amazing matching results – with both of them getting an A in maths and A* in biology and chemistry at Camp Hill Girls’ School, in Birmingham, West Midlands.
Now the undistinguishable due are both off to University of Birmingham in September to study dentistry.
Masa said: "We’re alike in every way.
"For a while I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, I thought about doing medicine – but Aya wanted to do dentistry, and she encouraged me to look into it.
"The more I looked into it, the more I decided I liked it.
"Our parents are really happy, especially my mum – she wants us to do everything the same and always be together.
"Our friends and teachers were quite surprised – it’s really unlikely to get into dentistry in the first place, and even more unlikely to both get a place at the same university.
"But we just didn’t listen – we were determined to do it together, so we decided to apply to all the same universities anyway.
"We’re really close – we study together and always help each other out, so it’s really good – we’re going to carry that on at university too.
"Dentistry can be stressful, so it will be good to have someone in the same position who knows what you’re going through. When we get there I think most people will be surprised to see identical twins on the same course – most people are surprised when they meet us, they think they’re seeing double. Only our very close friends and family can tell us apart.
"But although we look identical and we’ve got the same interests, we’ve got different personalities.
"We’ve always been at the same level, ever since we were little.
"We’re really happy with our grades, and so happy that we get to go the same uni together.
"We’re ecstatic, it’s just unbelievable."
