About 716 broadcast code infractions were committed by television and radio stations nationwide in the second quarter of 2020, a data last night from the National Broadcasting Commission has shown.
The data showed that out of the 716 infractions, only 22 attracted financial penalties.
The remaining 694 were either cautions or warnings for obscenity, political, hate speech, unverifiable claims, unprofessionalism, advertisements and technical breaches.
The data showed that 22 penalties were imposed on 19 stations across the country during the quarter.
This ranged from the sum of N250,000 to N300,000 each, with seven of these sanctioned for misinformation or false health advisory about COVID -19.
