The Nigeria Television Authority, Television College (NTA-TVC) Jos, is a famous educational institution, established in September 1980 to impart knowledge and professional skills in broadcast journalism, television production, scripting as well as television engineering.

Over the years the college has been training journalists, producers and engineers but despite these feats, the college can only boast of one auditorium.

It has only one storey building block consisting of seven lecture halls that are grossly inadequate, considering the high number of students gaining admission into the college.

As to student’s welfare and safety, the college has only one female hostel and another for male students. Its libraries, studio, administrative block, staff offices are also inadequate, hence the urgent need to have in place additional infrastructure among other immediate needs for it to continue to  impart knowledge to our teeming youth.

The noble initiative that came up with the college was indeed a laudable one attested by the large number of students it has graduated.

It is in light of this that one wishes to draw the attention of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TetFund) to speedily come to the aid of the college, through its emergency intervention programmes.

As earlier alluded, in spite of the inadequacies, students of the college usually stand out best amongst their equals and one could only imagine how  the institution would fare among its peers should it have the necessary infrastructure, equipment and funding.

Thus there is the urgent need for TetFund’s intervention as its presence is paramount, more so that the country’s educational system is now skewed and geared at skills acquisition for self-reliance.

TetFund presence in the college will greatly add value not only to infrastructure and other equipment but to the entire academic pursuit, and certainly posterity will not forget whatever good from its end, most especially the present leadership of Prof. Suleiman Bogoro.

I am of the firm view that not only the media industry as an immediate beneficiary of the college will keep Tetfund in high esteem but also the entire academia.
