- Gov Uba Sani vows to apprehend culprits behind impersonation
Community members of Tudun Biri in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State have unequivocally distanced themselves from a legal dispute allegedly initiated on their behalf against the Federal Government following an accidental military drone attack on Sunday 3rd December 2023.
In a powerful display of unity, representatives of the community converged at the Government House in Kaduna to vehemently reject the notion of pursuing legal action against the government in response to the incident.
The unanimous decision by the community members follows a lawsuit allegedly filed by one Alhaji Dalhatu Salihu, purportedly on behalf of Tudun Biri villagers, through their legal representative, one Mukhtar Usman Esq demanding 33 billion naira as compensation over the recent airstrikes by the Nigerian Army that killed more than 80 persons at the village.
During the gathering at the Government House Kaduna, the Chief Imam of Tudun Biri, Imam Hashim Jafar, expressed their frustration stating that the individual who filed the lawsuit did not represent the community and was not speaking on their behalf.
He highlighted the positive responses received from both the federal and state governments following the accidental attack, including sending high-level delegations to assess the situation, offer condolences, provide medical care in line with international best practices , adopt children who lost parents and plans by the Federal Government to rebuild the affected community.
Additionally, Reverend Musa Saidu emphasized that the community’s visit to the Government House was to show solidarity with the government’s response to the accidental attack.
“Muslims and Christians have been coexisting peacefully in the community for many decades. Therefore we would not allow unscrupulous elements to use the unfortunate incident to disrupt harmony among the residents”, he asserted.
Furthermore, the village head of Ifiri, Alhaji Balarabe Garba, clarified their position at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, expressing their disassociation from social media reports claiming that the community had filed a lawsuit against the Federal Government.
He urged the Kaduna State Government to identify the individuals responsible for the lawsuit and hold them accountable.
In response to the community’s concerns, Governor Uba Sani promised to identify the culprits behind the impersonation of the community members and bring them to justice.
He assured the community that both the federal and state governments have been actively involved in investigating the incident, providing relief materials, and covering medical expenses for the injured.
The Governor also acknowledged the presence of individuals seeking to exploit the situation for their own interests and assured the community that all donations made in response to the Tudun Biri incident would be utilized for their benefit.
Governor Sani informed the community that a committee comprising members of the community would be established to determine the best way to utilize the donations to ensure they reach the intended beneficiaries effectively.
