The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Bayelsa council has appealed to state governors to support the on-going move by the federal government on new minimum wage to improve workers well-being.
The TUC chairman in Bayelsa State, Mr Tari Dounana, made the appeal in an interview with journalists in Yenagoa.
Dounana, said the appeal became necessary due to the current low standard of living among workers in the country.
He said: “It is necessary that the government begin the new minimum wage because costs of livings are no longer the same. So, we are urging the governors to support the move and ensure that it is approved; the Governors should be able to touch the lives of workers and avoid anything that causes delay over the implementation of the new minimum wage.” He also enjoined workers to be diligent and desist from anything inimical to work ethics.
