Trust TV wins Nigeria Media Merit Award

Trust TV’s Gaza Yakubu has emerged the overall winner of the television production category of the 2023 Nigeria Media Merit Award.

Trust Television is owned by Media Trust Group, a multi-media company that also owns Trust Radio and publishes Daily Trust titles and Aminiya.

The event took place last night at the Musan Centre in Lagos.

Gaza was nominated for his documentary “Killer Doctor” alongside Trust TV’s Aaron Atsahyel, for his documentary, “Through the Benue.” Also nominated for the category was Onyi Sunday of Arise TV’s “Rising Food Price and a Story of Resilience in the Place of Difficulties.”

Daily Trust Investigation Editor wins 2023 Wole Soyinka Award

The General Editor of Daily Trust, Hamza Idris, was nominated for the Dele Giwa prize for Editor of the Year Award which was won by Dayo Oketola of The Punch. Idris had, last year, emerged winner in the same award category.

The Punch also won Newspaper of the year, defeating Daily Trust, the Nation and Guardian newspapers.

Lami Sadiq of Daily Trust emerged first runner-up for the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Prize for Culture and Tourism Reporter of the Year which was won by Justina Asishana of the Nation.  Ujorha Tadaferua Onoseme of Daily Trust also emerged first runner-up for the NAFCON prize for Environment Reporter which was won by O’Neil Shola of the Nation.

Ujorha Tadaferua Onoseme of Daily Trust was also nominated for the Adamu Mu’azu prize for Tourism reporter but was defeated by Janet Ogundepo of the Punch newspaper.
