Last week taught us two things; Arsenal are serious title contenders and Erling Haaland is making the PL look easier as the games go by. Liverpool vs Man City’s clash on Sunday looks to be a feisty one as it is a fixture that appears to have replaced the ‘EL CLASSICO’ in recent years.
Here are the predictions for this week:
Spurs vs Everton, Saturday 5:30pm
- 23 Kaduna train abductees not exchanged with Kirikiri suspects – Prof Yusuf
- Why FG released 101 `Boko Haram’ suspects from Kirikiri
After starting off the season with sack rumors, former Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard has turned around his fortunes and built a defensively solid team. The Toffees have conceded the joint least goals but have only scored more goals than three teams. Spurs on the other hand are a bit more balanced with goals for and goals against. Their UCL display is a sign of more to come; Son and Kane’s partnership has clicked again and that must be bad news for the Everton boss. However, I see this ending in a draw as goals may come from the newly re-introduced, Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Spurs 2 – 2 Everton
Aston Villa vs Chelsea, Sunday 2pm
The team from Birmingham comes into this game with a win in their last five games, scoring the joint 2nd least goals so far. Coming up against a Graham Potter side which seems to have found their shooting boots alongside their tactical flexibility can only spell danger. The Blues have scored 10 goals and conceded 2 in their last 4 games in all competitions. This one can only go one way.
Aston Villa 0 -2 Chelsea
Leeds vs Arsenal, Sunday 2pm
Leeds have not won a game since their 3-0 famous victory against Chelsea back In August. They come against the North Londoners who are flying high. Last week’s victory must have done wonders for the Young team’s confidence. However, Jesse March’s side have not lost a game at home this season but sadly for them Arsenal have the best away record so far. The gunners have scored 9 goals away from home while Leeds have conceded two goals at home. That will increase on Saturday.
Leeds 1 – 4 Arsenal
Man Utd vs Newcastle, Sunday 2pm
When the take-over of Newcastle took place last year, the team was immediately expected to be able to compete in Europe as soon as possible. Currently, they sit 6th on the table after impressive wins against Fulham and Brentford. Both teams seem to be going through a restructuring process, so is a test to see how far they have come. This will be an open game with both teams scoring more than one goal. There will be many similarities between Newcastle’s games with city. Players to watch are Saint-Maximin and Rashford.
Man Utd 2 – 2 Newcastle
Liverpool vs Man City, 4:30pm
This may sound unreasonable but Liverpool will be totally annihilated by City’s men. Although some may argue that it is Anfield and Van Dijk has not lost a PL game at home, this is a game that will affect Klopp’s future. Luiz Diaz, Matip and their main creator, Alexander Arnold are out injured. Although Arnold’s abysmal defending will not be missed, his creativity cannot be questioned. Liverpool may have beaten Rangers 7-1 but with the way the Scottish team defended, any top team would do the same. Klopp’s men have conceded 6 goals in their last two games and now come up against the likes of Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne and Joao Cancelo. Parental guidance is advised, this is going to be a shocker.
Liverpool 1 – 4 Man City
