Can the English Premier League ever have a Matchday without controversies? This week’s midweek game was highly entertaining and controversial as Fábio Carvalho grabbed the winner for Liverpool on 90+8 minutes when added time was 5 minutes while Douglas Luiz scored directly from a corner kick as Aaron Ramsdale looked impeded.
Here are the predictions for this weekend’s ‘Big six’ fixtures:
Algeria 2023: Super Eagles B in a make or mar clash with Black Galaxies
Musa Amadu: NFF under my leadership will be transparent and accountable
Everton vs Liverpool, Saturday 12:30pm
Both teams have not started the season well. Liverpool are 7 points from the top while Everton are in the early relegation battle and coach Frank Lampard is one draw away from becoming an artist. The type of goals conceded by both teams’ points to unstable defending so this game will be won by the team with more attacking firepower which is Liverpool. Everton are still without Dominic Calvert-Lewin and have been relying on Midfielder Anthony Gordon for goals while Liverpool can rely on Luis Diaz, Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and the returning Darwin Nunez for goals. These teams are separated by just Stanley Park but differ a lot in level.
Everton 1- 3 Liverpool
Chelsea vs West Ham, Saturday 3pm
Both teams are currently uncomfortable with their results so far, with Thomas Tuchel’s side maybe the most uncomfortable after spending a lot of money this window. Last season Chelsea’s poor attacking numbers seemed to be saved by their defence but there is a mini crisis right now but Welsey Fofana’s potential introduction may solve that. They can also be helped with the fact that West Ham has only scored two goals this season. However, I see this ending in a draw.
Chelsea 1- 1 West Ham
Tottenham vs Fulham, Saturday 3pm
Fulham have been eye catching off recently as they look to exceed expectations this season. Having bagged 8 points plus a convincing performance against Liverpool. The West Londoners would be heading into his London derby full of expectations. However, Antonio Conte’s men have conceded the Joint least goals so far and are defensively stronger at home with Harry Kane in fine form. Fulham Striker, Aleksandar Mitrović has continued his fine form from the championship and should get a goal.
Tottenham 2 -1 Fulham
Aston Villa vs Man City, Saturday 5:30pm
Erling Haaland is an exterminator that specializes in elimination of Premier league defenders and goalkeepers. I’m sure he looks in the mirror and says “is there anything I cannot do”, the lad is too good. My prayers go to Emi Martinez, the Aston Villa Goalkeeper at this time. Pep Guardiola should also be given credit for Erlings’s form. At first he looked like he wanted him to be the Agüero type of striker who links up play a lot but now he’s used as the deadly poacher we all know him as. The Aguero role fits Julian Alvarez more and I see him and Haaland starting more games together. Aston Villa has already lost 4 games already. Even though they put up a good fight against Arsenal, the fifth loss looks inevitable.
Aston Villa 0 – 4 Man City
Man United vs Arsenal 4:30pm
Mikel Arteta is putting together a team full of technically gifted and vibrant players, the process may have taken long But it is now paying off as the gunners look like a champions league team for next season. Erik Ten Hag’s team looks like the process has just begun and will take time and patience. Arsenal is on a brilliant run of form but is currently facing a midfield crisis with Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny missing the clash at Old Trafford, but has been solid in attack and defense. Despite United’s famous win against Liverpool, they are not stable enough in all departments to win this game.
Man United 1 – 2 Arsenal
