Trust Fund Pensions Limited has enjoined Nigerian students to cultivate the culture of saving early in life as it will go a long way in preparing them for future economic prosperity.

This advice was given by TrustFund Executive Director, Personnel and Business Administration, Musa Nasr, at the award ceremony of the inaugural TrustFund pensions essay competition for senior secondary school students in the FCT.

Speaking at the grand finale of the essay competition, Nasr said the event was to encourage students and young people to embrace savings culture early and prepare them for mandatory contributory pension scheme when they become gainfully employed in the future.

He said, “It is our belief that when they imbibe this culture at a very young age, it would become a lifestyle by the time they go through the higher institutions and are ready for the world of work.”

He said the competition fell under TrustFund Pensions Limited’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative which it tagged “How we touched our world,” and to commemorate the World Savings Day celebrated worldwide on October 31.

He noted that students from 67 senior secondary schools participated in the competition and a team of teachers within the FCT were selected to mark the scripts and select the best 10 essays under the topic ‘Saving Today Leads to a Happy Tomorrow’.

Glory Chuks Amacha of Model Secondary School, Maitama came first; Emmanuel Marvellous Chimamanda of Government Girls Secondary School, Dutse came second; Agianpuye Victoria of Government Girls Science Secondary School, Kuje emerged third; while Esther Kayode of Government Secondary School, Karshi came fourth.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of cash and educational materials to the students and their various schools by TrustFund Pension managers.
