True leadership is about service to people – Osinbajo

  • Sultan, Zulum laud VP for establishing school for orphans

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says leadership is not just about holding exalted positions, but the real test is in the dedication and service to the people.

He said this Monday night in Abuja at the fifth-anniversary celebration of the North East Children’s Trust Learning Centre.

NECT is a charity educational centre envisioned in 2016 by Osinbajo and took off a year later in Maiduguri for children orphaned by the insurgency in the North East.

Osinbajo, in his remarks before he led the cutting of the cake, described the children and teachers of the centre as real heroes, especially the children, orphans, who had overcome the trauma of the insurgency in Borno State and some parts of the North East.

He commended Senator Kashim Shettima and Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum for their roles in the development of the centre and their dedication to ensuring the best for the children.

Zulum and the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, lauded Osinbajo for spearheading the initiative, as well as his dedication and commitment to the education and welfare of the children in the school since it was established.

Zulum, who lauded Osinbajo’s vision to establish the school in Borno, said this would reduce the number of out-of-school children in the state.

The Sultan of Sokoto thanked Osinbajo for his selfless service and “commitment and concern to such project”.
