A truck on Monday crushed a commercial motorcycle rider to death at Olowotedo, opposite the Deeper Life Church, on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident to journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Akinbiyi, who said the accident occurred at about 11am, narrated that a hit-and-run car had hit the motorcycle, marked WDE 415 VD, sending it onto the path of the moving truck, which crushed the rider to death instantly.
Akinbiyi said, “The incident created a pandemonium for some minutes along the expressway, with area boys beating and hitting everyone in sight because the deceased motorcyclist was a resident of that area.”
He added that the driver of the truck had been arrested by the police and taken to the Mowe Divisional Police Command for interrogation, while the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Idera Hospital mortuary, Sagamu, Ogun State.
