Some clubs in the Saudi Arabian Professional League are strongly interested in snapping up Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong, ahead of the summer transfer window, according to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano.
Troost-Ekong currently plays for PAOK in the Greek Super League.
In a tweet on Friday, Romano said due to Troos-Ekong’s impressive display for Nigeria at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, Saudi clubs have developed strong interest in the Nigerian star.
“Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong caught the attention of clubs in Saudi due to his impressive performances in the AFCON. He’s been leading PAOK to top of Greek Super League and Europe Conference League, he’s very happy there — but the Saudi interest for summer is strong,” Romano wrote.

Troost-Ekong was vital for the Super Eagles in reaching the AFCON final after battling through a pulsating penalty shootout in a thrilling semi-final encounter against South Africa.
The defender put Nigeria into a 67th minute lead from the penalty spot after Victor Osimhen was brought down in the 18-yard area and the centre-back also netted the second spotkick for the Eagles during the shootout.
Nigeria will play the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire, at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara in Ebimpe, , on Sunday.
