Soldiers from the 6th Brigade of the Nigerian Army, operating under Operation Whirl Stroke in Taraba State, have cleared a kidnappers’ camp and rescued some kidnapped victims, according to a statement released Tuesday by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Oni Olubodunde.
He said the operation, carried out based on intelligence, targeted a kidnappers’ stronghold located in the Punkun area in Fikyu, Ussa LGA of the state.
Olubodunde said the soldiers effectively dislodged the bandits, clearing their camps and recovering a significant cache of arms and ammunition.
The army spokesperson noted that the terrorists were met with superior firepower, adding that one suspected kidnapper, identified as Dogo Manu, was apprehended during the operation.

Similarly, Operation Safe Haven, a security task force responsible for maintaining peace in Plateau State, has rescued two kidnap victims during a patrol named “HAKORIN DAMISA IV” along Maraban Jama’a road in Jos LGA.
Major Nantip Zakhom, spokesperson for Operation SAFE HAVEN, confirmed the rescue on Tuesday.
He said troops deployed to Bisichi swiftly responded to a distress call regarding kidnapping activities and encountered a brown Peugeot vehicle.
He said a thorough search operation in the surrounding bushes led to the successful rescue of Mr Abdul Bello, the vehicle’s owner, and Miss Sekyen Melody Yapshak, who was kidnapped from her parents’ residence near the Nigeria Police College.
