Troops neutralise two attackers in Benue

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) on Friday night neutralised two attackers who were among invaders of Chembe community in Logo Local Government area of Benue State.

Our correspondent gathered that the attackers invaded the community about 10:30pm and allegedly killed some villagers and injured others.

Locals said that the attackers shot sporadically during the invasion before the troops of the OPWS were alerted to the scene.

The villagers narrated that the soldiers pursued after the attackers who retreated into the bush on sighting them (troops) and in the process two of the invaders were felled.

Some of the locals said they had a glance of the attackers killed by the troops before the bodies were on Saturday morning whisked away in a military vehicle.

But, the Force Commander of OPWS, Major General, Adeyemi Yekini, refused to comment on the incident as he directed our correspondent to Defence headquarters media operations.
