The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Lafiya Dole, on Monday killed an unconfirmed number of Boko Haram Terrorists and destroyed two of their gun trucks on the outskirts of Dapchi Town in Yobe State.
A statement signed by coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche said the air operation was conducted following reports that BHT/ISWAP terrorists, in about five vehicles, had launched an attack on the town.
He said a helicopter gunship was scrambled to engage the terrorists and scored direct hits on their vehicles, destroying 2 of them and killing the occupants.
Daily Trust reported that the insurgents attacked Dapchi, the headquarters of Bursari Local government area Monday night.
The attackers set fire on the palace of Dapchi District head, forced many shops open as they carted away food items and other essentials belonging to the villagers.
They were said to storm the village while Muslim faithful were preparing to break the Ramadan fast.
