Troops of the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch have killed six insurgents and arrested three suspects during special operations in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Samuel Aruwan, the Overseeing Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, stated on Thursday that the troops conducted a special patrol in response to credible intelligence regarding terrorist activities in the Galadimawa area of the LGA.

Aruwan said the troops initially set up a position at Sabon Sara village, where they discovered that insurgents had abandoned a herd of rustled cattle in their haste to escape. The troops recovered the cattle and handed them over to locals before continuing their advance.

“The troops then sighted insurgents at the Market Square of Galadimawa. A swift exchange of fire resulted in six insurgents being neutralised by the troops,” Aruwan said.

Further search of the market area led to the arrest of three suspected collaborators and informants believed to have been offering logistical assistance to the criminal elements. The troops also recovered two motorcycles and four mobile phones.

Receiving the report, the governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, congratulated the troops under the leadership of Major General M.L.D. Saraso, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Whirl Punch, for the successful operation.
