The 223 Light Tank Battalion of the Nigerian Army in Gusau, Zamfara State, has killed four armed bandits and recovered arms and hundreds of cows, the commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Adamu Abdullahi has said.
Speaking to newsmen in Gusau, Abdullahi said several suspected cattle rustlers were also wounded as the said troops were deployed to Aja forest for anti-armed banditry and cattle rustling operations.
He said the soldiers carried out series of raids on the hideout of the suspected bandits killing four of them. They also recovered 5 AK 47 assault rifles,25 rounds of ammunition and several magazines for the AK 47 rifles.
“This is a victory for the army and the state and we appreciate the support given to us by the state government over the last three months we have been embarking on various operations,” he said.
