The Nigerian Army yesterday said a patrol team of the 157 Task Force Battalion, 7 Brigade, on Monday ambushed and killed a Boko Haram spy at Barwati village, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
A statement from army spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman, said the insurgent who was on reconnaissance mission to infiltrate the troops’ position, was killed while trying to enter a military location.
He added: “The team recovered one AK-47 rifle, 59 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, one 40mm x 46mm BGL2 grenade, one bandolier and three AK-47 rifle magazines from him.”
Usman said troops had intensified vigilance and high alertness as they continued clearing remnants of the Boko Haram militants in their area of responsibility.
