Tricyclist tortured by policemen gets N3 million compensation

A Kano-based commercial tricycle rider, Dayyabu Auwalu, has been awarded N3 million compensation by the Police Service Commision.
This followed an order by a Federal High Court sitting in Kano, after Auwalu was assaulted by some policemen while carrying out his business.
The police officers the court found guilty of the offence include Abdullahi Daura and former DPO of Kuntau Police Station in Kano, CSP Abdullahi.
Announcing the development on Facebook, Auwalu’s lawyer, Barrister Abba Hikima said, ”It is hoped that this will serve as a deterrent to other police officers who harass members  of the public, as well as to the commission, itself.”
