It was a free-for-all on Tuesday evening between some commercial tricycle riders and officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) at Ojota, over an attempt by the state officials to impound a Toyota Camry belonging to their chairman.

At the end of the brawl, a staff of the agency identified as Oguntimehin Ajibola suffered injuries.

It was gathered that the tricycle riders were protesting the alleged arrest of a Toyota Camry car, belonging to the riders’ newly elected chairman, Ojota branch.

The agency’s general manager, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, confirmed the attack, saying the LASTMA officials were attacked by members of the Tricycle (Keke) Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) Ojota branch on Sunday.

“One of our operatives, Oguntimehin Ajibola, was injured in his left eye with broken bottle by the attackers and is currently on admission at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that members of the Tricycle (Keke) Owners Association, Ojota branch, numbering about 20, attacked the officers after they were informed that the Toyota Camry FKJ 161 HB of their newly elected chairman (Ojota branch) known as ‘Henro’ was detained for illegal diversion by LASTMA officials at Ojota,” he added

The general manager further stated that the matter had been reported at Area ‘H’ Command of the Nigeria Police, Ogudu while “efforts are on to identify and arrest all those who took part in the unwarranted attack,” he stated.
