Tributes pour in for late Zainab Musa-Kperogi

As someone who is reserved, unassuming, straightforward, competent and committed, Zainab Musa-Kperogi would never have imagined that her contributions on the pages of newspapers over the years could have attracted attention from a cross-section of Nigerians as her tributes have shown. Among the people who condoled with Media Trust Limited were former President Ibrahim Babangida and Governor Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State. Babangida described the late Zainab as a very strong voice among female journalists in the North and the nation in general. “She was not only a fine writer and highly opinionated columnist with good command of prose, but also one who deployed her energies and total devotion to doing the job of reporting the news for the benefit of mankind.” Yakowa, on the other hand, described her demise as “a great loss not only to her immediate family but to the entire nation on account of invaluable contributions to the development of Kaduna State and the nation at large in the course of her media activities.”

Governor Idris Ibrahim of Kogi State, in his own condolence message through his media aide, Richard Elesho, said: “The deceased’s incisive opinions helped shape public opinion and the nation will miss her contribution to nation-building. She was a highly committed journalist who was conscious of the ethics of the profession.” Governor Shekarau of Kano State in his on message prayed to Allah to give her family the courage to bear the loss.

Former Governor of Sokoto state, Alhaji Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa as condoled with the Management/staff of the Media Trust and the family of Kperogi over the death of an assistant Editor of the company, Hajiya Zainab Kperogi.

On his part, FRSC Corps Marshall, Osita Chidoka, in his condolence said late Hajiya Zainab is a hardworking journalist and described her death as “another rude reminder that our goal of eradicating road accidents remained unattained.” The Managing Director of Unity Bank, Alhaji Falalu Bello, in his condolence prayed to Allah to grant her Aljanatu Firdausi and give the family the courage to bear the irreparable loss. Then FCT Minsiter, Senator Bala Muhammed, on his part, described Zainab as “a committed and hardworking journalist who practiced the profession according to the ethics governing it”.

Selected tributes from the condolence register open at the office were equally full of encomiums on late Zainab. The Managing Director of the and Chief Operating Officer of Media Trust Limited, Alhaji Isiaq Ajibola, in his condolence message, said late Zainab was a committed staff. “She was calm and took everything that came her way as the wish of Allah. May Almighty Allah forgive her sins”.

Safiya Dantiye, Assistant Editor, Sunday Trust, prayed for the repose of her soul in her message. “May your soul rest in peace. May God protect and guide your children. You were such a good mother.” For Gladys Nworgu, Zainab is simply unforgetable. “I cannot forget the precious treasure of her laughter and affection. She may be absent in body but she will always live in my heart.” Abubakar A. Ibrahim, in his tribute, wrote: “Pain untold, anguish indescribable, grief unfathomable, loss irreparable. Hajiya Zainab, may Allah accept you into paradise. Amin.”
