Tribunal: Obi, LP failed to prove $460,000 conviction of Tinubu

The Presidential Election Petitions Court has dismissed the claim of the Labour Party (LP) and Peter Obi seeking to disqualify Bola Tinubu over the forfeiture of the sum of $460,000 in a US Court.

Ruling on that ground of the petition, Justice Haruna Tsammani held that the petitioners “evidently failed” to establish the case as provided in Section 137(1)(d) of the Nigerian Constitution.

Justice Tsammani held that the petitioners failed to prove that the allegation at the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division wherein Tinubu was ordered to forfeit $460,000, was criminal case.

He added that Tinubu was not arraigned, did not take plea and there was no sentence of imprisonment was imposed on him.
