Tribunal jails distributor of porn pictures

Delivering the judgment, Jutice Malam Muktar Ahmed, said the possession of pornographic posters was capable of corrupting public morals and sentenced Mubarak to 350 days imprisonment without option of a fine.
The tribunal also ordered the convict to pay N20,000 to the Kano State Censorship Board as compensation as prescribed in Section 365 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The prosecuting counsel, Hassan Husain, was arraigned for printing and distributing pornographic materials contrary to Section 97, Sub-section (a) of Kano State Cinematography and Licencing Regulation, 2001.
He said the offences also contravened Section 112 of the law.
When the charges were read to the suspect, he pleaded guilty and asked for leniency. (NAN)
