Trapped locals freed by troops in Monguno

A community leader from Monguno who is now in Maiduguri confirmed that the town has been liberated by troops who were assisted by the air force.
“It is true that Monguno has been liberated and Nigerian soldiers are now in full control of both the  town and the military barracks, in fact, some of our people have started arriving Maiduguri even though the soldiers have told   them not to panic,” the community leader, who does not want to be named said. A senior security source told our correspondent that a serious operation started in Monguno on Sunday and the town was retrieved around noon yesterday.
“We have recorded unprece-dented success in Monguno and recovered various weapons, the terrorists were also killed massively,” the source said.
