Transparency group tasks El-Rufai to pass FOI bill before May 29

A group under the auspices of Transparency and Accountability in Totality Initiative (TinT) has tasked the Kaduna State Governor Nasiru El-Rufai to pass the Freedom of Information (FOI) bill into law before the end of his tenure comes May 29,2023.

Musa Sulaiman, FOI Project Officer of USAID-supported SCALE, the call for speedy passage of the bill was necessary as a catalyst for the effective functionality of the Open Government Partnership (OGP), which the state subscribed to in 2018.

According to him, the domestication of the act would promote openness, transparency, and accountability in government, and strengthen the democratic structure.
