A train has been set on fire in Kwara State.
The incident, which occurred yesterday at the Railway Station in Offa, Offa Local Government Area of the state, saw two coaches burnt out of the 15-coach train.
Sources told City News on Wednesday that the act was carried out by an unidentified arsonist.
As at the time of filing this report, late yesterday, his reason for carrying out the act was not known.
Confirming the incident, the state head of department, Fire Service, Hakeem Adekunle, said firemen put the fire out.
According to him, the train had a fault and was been fixed when an unknown person set the last coach on fire.
“We gathered it was a deliberate act. But, we were able to put off the fire and rescue the train after two of the coaches had caught fire.
“The Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, urged the general public not to hesitate to call the fire brigade on time whenever there is any fire emergency in their areas,’’ he said.
