Trailer kills 5 in Suleja

A trailer lost control Saturday around Suleja market in Niger State, killing five people and injuring others in the process.

The incident, which took place around some minutes to 12 noon, caused damage to an unspecified number of vehicles, including tricycles and motorcycles.

A witness, Bala Saidu, said the truck driver was forced to change his position from where he parked initially by a road enforcement agency, known as “traffic vanguard” in the town, who accused him of wrong parking.

“He complained to them about the truck’s faulty break, but they did not listen to him,” Sa’idu said.

The truck driver was later rescued from the mob action by members of the Emirate Vigilante before being handed over to the policemen in the area.

All the deceased have been deposited at the Suleja General Hospital, while some of the survivors were rushed to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwagwala, for medical attention.
