Trailer crushes woman to death in Osogbo

A trailer loaded with goods killed an aged woman and injured several others when it lost control near Oke-Fia area of Osogbo, capital of Osun State on Wednesday night.
Our correspondent learnt that the trailer driver lost control of the vehicle owing to break failure while ascending a hilly part of the road near the Osun State Government House Annex.
An eyewitness account said, “The trailer was ascending the hill when it developed some faults. We just discovered that the driver could no longer move forward. The trailer started descending and the drivers of the vehicles behind him quickly reversed their vehicles.”
Daily Trust learnt that in spite of the efforts of the trailer driver, many vehicles were damaged and occupants of the affected vehicles sustained injuries. One of the passengers jumped out of a commercial bus to escape death but the trailer crushed her head where she landed on the road. She died on the spot.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Folasade Odoro who confirmed the incident, said the corpse of the woman had been deposited in a mortuary.
