11 people were killed while nine others sustained various degrees of injuries when a trailer collided with an 18-seater bus on Saturday at Hawan Jaki village in Alkaleri along Bauchi-Gombe road.
The Bauchi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Yusuf Abdullahi who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Sunday in the state, said that the accident involved two commercial vehicles including a Hiace Bus with the registration number BA114-A28 belonging to Yankari Express of Bauchi State Government and a DAF trailer belonging to Dangote Group of Companies with registration number JMU169XA.

Abdullahi explained that the FRSC rescue team rushed to the scene shortly after receiving the report and evacuated them to the Alkaleri General Hospital where nine of the victims were confirmed dead, adding that, “two other injured victims later died.”
The commander appealed to motorists and other road users to observe traffic regulations and desist from over-speeding especially during the ember months because of the high increase of vehicular movements on the highways.
