The Kaduna state Police Command has arrested a woman in connection with alleged trafficking of 21 children in Gwagwalada.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mukhtar Aliyu said parents of one of the victims had reported to the Divisional Police Office in Kafanchan on 3rd November, 2013 about their missing child.
He said, “The police started investigating the matter and arrested some persons in the area. Interrogation by the police revealed that a woman took the child back to Gwagwalada.
“We went to Gwagwalada but the woman had already been arrested by our Federal operation officers in connection with another case. The police however rescued 21 children that were seen at the premises of the alleged woman who claimed to be running an orphanage home.”
He added, “The woman is still with our officers in Abuja, they will hand her over to us when they are done with their investigation and we will commence our own investigations on the matter.”
Aliyu further confirmed that five of the children have been reunited with their families.
