There was palpable tension in New Garage area, of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital yesterday over the reported death of a police traffic warden during a clash between commercial transporters and police on Thursday night.
Daily Trust Saturday reliably gathered that the victim was killed during an altercation with suspected transporters while at his duty post.
Our correspondent gathered that the police died on the spot following injuries sustained in an attacked by the hoodlums.
However, another source stated that a reckless motorist overran the victim while on an official assignment in the area.
Efforts to reach out to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, proved abortive as calls and text message to his mobile line were not responded to.
